Hello all! My name is Marcella Michaels and I’m a recent addition to our team of audiologists here at Jacksonville Hearing and Balance Institute. I am originally from New Jersey and I completed my Bachelors degree in Linguistics at Montclair State University. I completed my doctorate in audiology from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and I completed my 1 year residency program at Midwest Dizziness and Balance Institute in St. Louis, Missouri. While attending Lamar University, I held an RA position and had the opportunity to engage in research with topics including the general public’s accessibility of information regarding hearing aids on the YouTube platform, sports-related post-concussive syndrome specifically regarding dizziness, as well as tinnitus perception and its impact on quality of life.
My clinical interests include vestibular diagnostics and management, audiometric and tinnitus evaluations, and hearing aid services. I enjoy connecting with each of my patients, keeping up-to-date on best practices in my field, and I strive to make the hearing/balance diagnostic process as easy and as comfortable as possible for each patient.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my dog Nala, my partner Nathan, and my family. I also enjoy playing music with my sister, Mackenzie, all things DIY, and experimenting in the kitchen. I am new to the area- if you have any recommendations for activities, restaurants, parks, etc. I’m “all ears”!
